Teri Dean
Teacher's Assistant
Teri has been working with children in the Las Vegas valley for over 34 years as a licensed educator for CCSD. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Teri’s connection to the CCSD runs deep. After high school, she attended Brigham Young University where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. She returned home to Las Vegas to begin her teaching career and received her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Teri’s first teaching position was as a 5th-grade teacher at the same school her parents attended. She has worked as a general education teacher, humanities teacher, and a librarian. She also holds an administrative degree. Teri officially retired from the CCSD in 2017. However, her love for teaching and making a difference in the lives of students has made retirement look a little different. She continues to look for opportunities to serve the Las Vegas community, especially the kids.
In addition to teaching, Teri loves to travel and collect children’s books signed by the author. Last year, Teri traveled by train to Seattle, WA, to attend a children’s book festival where she met several authors and added to her ever-growing book collection. If you need a book recommendation, Teri is definitely the one to see. Teri also loves to spend time with her family, (especially her two nephews that live next door), and her dog, Miss Honey, who was named after a character in one of her favorite children’s books. Ask her what it is, I bet she would be happy to tell you :)
Teri is very excited to be working with Jennifer Morris in Janie’s Classroom. The classroom holds a very special place in her heart as she was Janie’s 5th-grade teacher. She looks forward to working with the families of Cure 4 The Kids.
